German Lifts €49,080 Top Prize in 260 Strong Field in Sunny Beach
by Brendan Murray
German Manig Löser is the season II European Masters of Poker Bulgaria champion having taken down the €1,100 buy in event at the Crystal Crown Casino, Sunny Beach last weekend.
After the 260-strong field was reduced to a final table of nine, Löser was third in chips, eventually getting to threehanded play and busting Romanian George Draghici after a deal had been agreed between the three.
Heads up play was 45 minutes in when Löser limped from the button and his opponent Israeli Shani Vahnun checked.
The flop rolled out Q-J-6 and the German bet 55,000. Vahnun pushed all-in for 700,000 and Löser made the call showing K-6 while Vahnun tabled 9-8. A 2 and 6 on the turn and river ensured Löser’s 6-6 stayed ahead and he emerged victorious, joining previous season II winners Giovanni Suetra, Vladimir Mefodichev, Maciej Lipny and Timothy Timotheou.
The final table payouts were:
1: Manig Löser (Germany) — €49,080
2: Shai Vahnun (Israel) — €35,000
