Stevenson High School is No. 82 in the annual ranking of American high schools by Newsweek magazine.
Stevenson is the fourth-highest rated school from Illinois in the rankings, after Northside Prep in Chicago (24), the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora (37) and Hinsdale Central in Hinsdale (69). The other Illinois high schools in Newsweek’s top 150 include Glenbrook North in Northbrook (97), Prospect in Mt. Prospect (114), University Lab School in Urbana (128) and New Trier in Winnetka (139).
Of the schools listed ahead of Stevenson, less than 25 are comprehensive public high schools that admit all students residing within their boundaries. Most of the top 82 schools have selective-enrollment policies.
