“From authentic German beer and food to entertainment and atmosphere, this is one of the few true OktoberFest
celebrations in the Northern Suburbs,” says Mary Ann and Chip Ullrich, owners of The Village Tavern. “It is
just so fitting that the Village of Long Grove, with its German history dating back to 1847, and its international
diversity throughout the Village’s restaurants and shops, is making it a tradition and destination every October.”
A town established by German farmers, coupled with unique European feel and charm, Long Grove is the
perfect place to celebrate OktoberFest. The Village-wide event will kick off on Saturday at 10am with the
OktoberFest Homecoming Parade, where community groups, businesses and residents will march through
downtown to celebrate German heritage, Fall, Halloween and hometown pride! Afterwards, the Long Grove
Fire Department Open House will be offering demo’s, tours and photos from 11-3pm.
Attendees can visit authentic German Beer Garden tents located at Archer Road and Fountain Square and in
The Village Tavern parking lot, where there will be German beer, wine, brats, pretzels and more. Both days will
be filled with live entertainment and stations set up for pumpkin decorating and children’s activities throughout
town. Historians and Halloween fans alike can take a „haunted walk“ through historic Long Grove complete
with facts and fun, starting at dusk from Timmy’s Sandwiches and Ice Cream.
