THE CHICAGO RUSSIAN LITERARY SALON INVITES YOU
TO A NOT-NECESSARILY-RUSSIAN
AND NOT-NECESSARILY-LITERARY EVENT
Dear friends,
I did it once, carried away by an inexplicable momentum and passion for something new. That fantastic musical event, IAN&ANI DUO, was so successful that I decided to do it again! And, in order to strengthen the emotional impact of the occasion, I invited my guests to perform on one of the warmest and heartfelt holiday of the year: a Mother Day.
So…
On Sunday, May 13th, at 5 p.m. the unique Barcelona Guitar Duo is coming right from Spain to have a concert at the new Salon’s welcoming home – Congregation Kol Emeth (5130 Touhy Ave. Skokie, IL, 60077)!
The cost of the event is $20 and you can pay at the door.
Please, come a little bit ahead of time to park your car and be at the concert timely. There is a small parking lot on the west side of the building and plenty of free parking on the surrounding streets.
Barcelona Guitar Duo, which consists of highly acclaimed musicians Ksenia Axelroud & Joan Benejam, makes its greatly praised by the critique and the audience debut in the prestigious Palau de la Música Catalana, one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, performing Concierto Madrigal for two guitars and orchestra by Joaquín Rodrigo in 2001. Since then, they constantly work on their technique and musicality, expanding their repertoire.
(You can read and listen here: http://www.barcelonaduodeguitarra.com http://www.barcelonaduodeguitarra.com/recordings.html
Today Barcelona Guitar Duo is regarded as one of the best Spanish Guitar Duos considered by the critique “as one of the big virtuosi of the 21st Century” (National Catalonian Television) and recognized for their “…fully achieved technical control and an evident finesse, precision and purity in the sound production” (Mallorca Daily). They have performed in Europe, North and South America, and made recordings for the National Catalonian Radio, COM Radio, Radio Orfeo of Moscow, Russian Channel “Cultura” TV and Spanish channel “Culture” TV3.
So, bring your kids, mothers, families and friends to enjoy such classics as Rossini, Scarlatti and Bizet, as well as a whole constellation of Spanish music (Albéniz, Sarasate, de Falla, Granados).
I hope to see you all there and celebrate Mother Day with you!
Alla Dekhtyar,
host of the Chicago Russian Literary Salon
