DETROIT (WJBK) – Detroit police say they have no motives, no clues and no suspects. They say it doesn’t appear to be a robbery, so why would someone shoot a mother while she sat in her car?
37-year-old Tzveta Tocheva left Bulgaria for a better life only to be murdered in cold blood in Detroit.
„I don’t understand what happened. Horrific crime,“ said Vito Valdez.
Her eleven-year-old daughter, Dennizta, ran inside the family home to feed the dog, but by the time she came back to the car, her mom was dead. Police say she was shot.
Police are now reviewing video from Mexicantown to see if a security camera caught the shooting on tape.
„I just wish that she’s in a good place and wish the best for her and her family,“ Valdez said.
He was one of Tocheva’s closest friends. He spoke to her just an hour and a half before she was murdered.
Tocheva was a student at Marygrove College. Valdez said she had a passion for art and life, but most of all, her beautiful, young daughter.
„She’s a great mom. She worked different jobs just to try to keep her in a good school,“ he explained. „A single mom and worked really hard.“
Marygrove College is now putting together a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses. Aside from a godmother in Kansas, eleven-year-old Dennizta has no family in this country.
