Dear European Film Lovers,
From July 6 through 12, the Gene Siskel Film Center will present the first Chicago run of the rebel-rousing dudes-versus-prudes film, Hipsters.
This Russian musical centers on the rock ‘n’ roll subculture that bloomed briefly in the USSR during the post-Stalinist era of the mid-1950’s. Mels, a proper young man encounters hipsters who congregate at Moscow’s Pompadour Club. Enchanted by a feisty woman named Polly, Mels soon joins the doo-wops and ducktails during Russia’s hard-line crackdown!
