International Cello and Piano Duo to Present Their Debut CD-Release with members of Joffrey Ballet and Tango 21
After an array of sold-out and critically-acclaimed performances at the Chopin Theatre last spring and a European summer tour, iAN&ANi (cellist Ian Maksin and pianist Ani Gogova) are back in Chicago presenting the release of their debut collaboration album “TANGO PLUS” featuring their own new renditions of Astor Piazzolla’s classics “Adios Nonino”, “Oblivion”, “Milonga del Angel” as well as the world premiere of “Memory Tango”, a new work by Chicago composer Ilya Levinson. In addition, the new CD contains passionate music of Alberto Ginastera, Manuel De Falla, Maurice Ravel and Rodion Shchedrin.
The Chicago CD-release celebration performance will take place at the Old Town School of Folk Music on October 10, at 8:30 PM, admission is free. iAN&ANi will perform works from the new CD and will be joined by special guests – leading Chicago dancers Abigail Simon, Lucas Segovia, Kara Zimmermann (courtesy of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago), Jorge Niedas and Liz Sung of the Tango 21 Dance Company, as well as soprano Marisa Buchheit who also holds the title of Miss Chicago 2012. Under the direction of legendary Argentine choreographer Jorge Niedas, they will present a unique fusion of dance and live music.
