(COVID-19)
by Sergey Boyadzhiev
.
Invisible but watching,
He can’t be seen or heard,
With rapidly approaching
Immunity of the herd.
His future is uncertain,
His basic needs – unmet,
And maybe it is curtains
For him and he’s upset.
He shivers on the plastic
And dreads a bitter end –
Some antiseptic drastic
Can kill our little friend.
I do have friendly feelings
For our tiny mate –
We’re both organic beings,
We share the same fate.
Forget about Corona!
The name is now Covid.
Don’t call him “Prima Donna”
Or a dismissive “it”.
We have a new arrival –
Here comes Covid-19!
He certainly went viral
Yet can’t be heard or seen.
We celebrate all cultures
From every distant land
And we believe in nurture –
He needs a helping hand.
What if he can produce
Some legislation vague:
“The right to reproduce”
And takes us to the Hague?
He needs a host enlightened –
So better us than bats,
We must not be frightened
And drive our guest to cats.
*
I’m hot and I am shaking…
Help! Help! I’m short of breath,
And all my body’s aching…
Maybe I’m facing death.
