We have 60 people in our group attending the May 17 Tanec „Soul of Macedonia“ concert at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago. This is the last call for tickets at $50/ticket with no service charge. First come, first served. Any unsold tickets will be returned to the concert sponsors this coming weekend. On the current tour, Tanec has a total of 8 concerts concentrated in the Midwest and eastern part of US and Canada. There are no concerts west of Chicago. Folks can also buy tickets online through the website below but they will be charged $5+ per ticket in service fees. The tickets we are offering have no service fees thanks to a special arrangement with the sponsors. But act fast, as we have a limited number of tickets and limited time left.

Tanec is the National Folk Dance and Song ensemble from Skopje, North Macedonia. The great Macedonian folk dancer master, Atanas Kolarovski, who passed away on March 9, 2022, was a founding member, lead soloist, choreographer, and artistic director of Tanec. Other prominent past members of Tanec known to international folk dancers and Balkan folklore enthusiasts comprise a who’s who of Macedonian folklore:

Mile Kolarov, kaval master and Atanas’ uncle, kaval player on the Folkfraft Macedonian LPs 15, 24, 25
Simos Konstantinou, father of Yannis Konstantinou
Kočo Petrovski, the accordionist on the original release of „Makedonsko Devojce“ and the Folkfraft Macedonian LPs 15, 24, and 25
Aleksandar Sarievski, singer of „Zajko Kokorajko“ used for the dance Arap, recorded first commercial release of „Zajdi, Zajdi, Jasno Sonce“, etc.
Georgi Tomov, member of Tanec and Lado, teacher in NYC
Stanimir Višinski, mentor to and co-author with Elsie Dunin of books on Macedonian folk dance, director of K.U.D. „Orce Nikolov“ with which Dragi Spasovski danced
