Eдин милиард души не могат да си позволят здравни грижи, а повече от 100 милиона души изпадат в бедност всяка година, поради заболяване или „катастрофални“ сметки за медицински грижи, съобщиха от Световната здравна организация (СЗО).
„За мнозина здравните грижи не съществуват, а за други просто не са достъпни. Когато не са достъпни, това означава, че или не ги използваш или имаш сериозни финансови затруднения“, заяви Дейвид Евънс, отговарящ за здравното финансиране на СЗО. „Необходимостта от здравно финансиране никога не е била по-голяма на фона на забавения икономически растеж, болестите и застаряването на населението, което се нуждае от повече грижи за хронични заболявания. Всеки трябва да има достъп до здравни услуги и никой не трябва да изпитва финансови затруднения за това, заявиха от СЗО. Над 100 милиона души годишно изпадат в бедност, заради „катастрофални разходи“. Около 1 милиард души в света не могат да си позволят здравни грижи. Въпреки че най-бедните страни са най-засегнати, докладът на организацията посочва, че богатите нации също имат проблеми със здравеопазването. Експертите цитираха проучване на Харвардския университет от 2007 г, според което медицинските сметки са допринесли за фалита на 62% от семействата. „Това просто не е приемливо. И не само е неприемливо, но и не е необходимо, тъй като може да се направи нещо за разрешаването на въпроса“, призоваха от СЗО. /АФП

WHO urges all countries to strengthen health financing so more people can use services
22 NOVEMBER 2010 | BERLIN | GENEVA – Governments worldwide are struggling to pay for health care. As populations get older, as more people suffer chronic diseases, and as new and more expensive treatments appear, health costs soar.
Even in countries where health services have traditionally been accessible and affordable, financing mechanisms are increasingly stretched. In countries that depend heavily on people paying directly for services at the point of delivery, health bills push 100 million people into poverty each year.
This year\’s World health report gives governments practical guidance on ways to finance health care. Taking evidence from all over the world, it shows how all countries, rich and poor, can adjust their health financing mechanisms so more people get the health care they need. It encourages the international community to support low and middle-income countries\’ efforts to increase health coverage.
On 22 November, WHO presents the report to a ministerial conference on health financing, hosted by the Government of Germany. The organization and its partners will then embark on a programme to help countries review their health financing systems and strategies alongside their national health policies and plans. It will encourage and facilitate exchanges of experiences between countries, and help countries adjust financing systems so that more people get to access the health services they need.
