Bulgarian Music with Petar Ralchev Quartet

Petar Ralchev and his quartet will give a workshop in Bulgarian folk music. Petar is a world-renowned accordionist and the other musicians perform tamboura, guitar, tupan, drum, and vocals. This workshop is open to all students interested in the genre. Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments although they are not required for participation.

Accordionist Petar Ralchev is one of the brightest stars on the contemporary Bulgarian music scene. The founder of a unique performing style which he describes as „virtuosity, melodiousness, rich harmony and improvisation,“ he is an inspiration for many young accordionists around the world today. Ralchev has performed with other musical giants such as Georgi Yanev and Ivo Papasov and continues to reshape accordion performance as we know it.
